Extension of Anytime Anywhere Learning

As an Extension of Anytime, Anywhere Learning the Curriculum Department will offer content activities that are optional and will not be submitted; but will support students in the process of continuous learning. This program will be available for students from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th Grade. (A live link to the activities will be posted on June 8, 2020)

Early Childhood Summer School

Summer school opportunity for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten English learners only. Students must have been identified as English Learners in the 2029-20 School year by their campus Language Proficiency Language Committee (LPAC). This program will take place Mondays through Thursdays starting June 8, 2020 to July 3, 2020 from 9a to 12p.

DHS Credit Recovery & Acceleration

For DeSoto High School students needing credit recovery or students that want to take acceleration courses. These courses will be facilitated in a virtual classroom setting. Courses will be offered Monday – Friday from 8:30 – Noon on June 8 -26, 2020. Students will be allowed to take 1 course (.5 credit). Once a payment has been submitted you will be contacted by a counselor to assist in scheduling a course in alignment with the students 4-year graduation plan. 

 

Courses Offered: 

English: English I, English II, English III, English IV (A & B) *

Math: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Cal (A & B) *

Science: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Physics, and IPC (A & B) *

Social Studies: World Geography, World History, & US History (A&B) *

Government, Economics

Other: Professional Communication, Health

 *If a student has not taken the A section, the student will not be enrolled in the B section.

Advanced Academics Math Camp

High School students who are on the Math AP track and are doubling up in Math the 2020-2021 School Year. These students are taking (Pre-AP Geometry & Pre-AP Pre-Calculus) or (Pre-AP Pre-Calculus & AP Calculus AB) or (AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics). The course will be offered Monday – Thursday from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm on June 15–18, 2020, and June 22 – 25, 2020.

HAKing Innovation GT Engineering Camp is an enrichment opportunity for Middle Schools students entering 7th Grade. The course will be offered mornings on Monday – Thursday on June 8–11, 2020, and June 15 - 18, 2020.

A2E2 Summer Magnet Virtual Camps

Enrichment opportunities for Kindergarten to 11th-grade students in DeSoto ISD’s A2E2 program at Frank Moates Elementary, The Meadows Elementary, Woodridge Elementary, Ruby Young Elementary, McCowan Middle School, East Middle, and DeSoto High School The camps will be available between June 8 - 26, 2020. Times will vary by camp.

Rice University STEM Camp
*This camp has reached its capacity limit as of May 29, 2020.

A2E2 has an exciting online camp opportunity for our rising 8th through 12th-Grade students. The Dr. Richard A. Tapia Center, located within Rice University, has created a STEM camp that is designed to empower and motivate academically successful students who are passionate about their education. The Tapia Virtual Camp led by Rice University facilitators will enable participants to interact with both professors and graduate students. Each participant will receive an engineering box which will provide all materials needed for developing engineering projects. This STEM camp is a two-week opportunity that will begin on June 15 and run through July 2. Daily sessions begin at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 p.m.  Registration is limited to A2E2 students only.

TSI Summer Bootcamp

Attention all rising 10th-grade parents and students. Are you looking for a summer learning program that works around your student's busy summer schedule of summer employment, family events, and athletic practices? A2E2 is offering a free, online, self-paced, College-Readiness Program prepared for your student’s summer schedule, June 8- July 9, 2020. This college-readiness program will guide students through a 3-step process, focusing on preparing each student to pass the TSI College Entrance Exam. This 3-step process will include a pre-skills assessment, 4 Reading/Writing or Math self-paced learning modules, and a post-skills assessment, all of which will be completed within a five-week timeframe.

Sylvan Family Trivia Hour

Join us for our recurring fun and friendly virtual Family Trivia Hour every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the Summer.  The winning family will get Sylvan tokens as well as other rewards like FREE/Discounted Sylvan tutoring hour(s). Trivia Hour will be a team/family time where both parents and kids work together to figure out reading, science, history, and pop culture trivia. It’s a friendly competition and it is sure to be a great time for the whole family! Trivia hour is good for all ages.
