During the month of February, DeSoto ISD will observe Black History Month with a series of discussions on the district’s social media channels of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Beginning each Monday, a topic will be introduced with a request for all to join the conversation by entering comments on the post.  The comments may include a picture depicting the topic, links to additional information on the topic, or shared experiences and opinions about the topic.  Questions about the topic may also be introduced in the comments section.  Each week will end with an hour-long, Zoom panel discussion to be broadcast live on the district’s Facebook page, each Friday at noon. Selected panelists will include subject matter experts or members of the groups/organizations being discussed along with staff, students, parents and community members.  A moderator will facilitate each discussion.  Panelists may weigh in on questions raised during the week or receive questions from comments made during the live broadcast.
