This spring, students in grades PK – high school will again take universal screener assessments aligned to state standards and the district board goals.

Universal screeners are brief assessments (45 min. max) that are typically given three times per year – Fall (Sept. – Oct.), Winter (Dec. – Jan.), Spring (Apr. – May). All students (virtual and in-person) are required to participate in the universal screener assessments. The desire for all students to complete the screener on grade-level is important because it helps DeSoto ISD teaching staff to identify how students perform compared to their peer group, and identify needs for personalized learning plans.

DeSoto ISD is seeking the full support of every family by encouraging all students to participate in Spring local and state assessments as scheduled by the campus.

Important Tips for Universal Screener Assessments:

  • Universal screeners are independent assessments. Teachers and parents should NOT assist students with answering questions. Teacher and parents should only assist with technical issues.

  • Students should be prepared to take the universal screener in a quiet space that allows him/her to focus on completing the assessment without distractions.

  • For I-Station Only: Once the ISIP icon disappears from the bottom right corner of the screen, the student has completed the ISIP universal screener and may STOP.

Thank you for supporting your child and encouraging him or her to do his or her best during the universal screener administration.
