The DeSoto Independent School District is in application for a Teacher Incentive Allotment, a grant which will supplement teacher compensation, curricular resources and other needs within the district as it seeks to better serve students.

As part of the grant’s requirements, students are asked to participate in surveys to begin developing baseline data regarding students’ perspectives on classroom environments and experiences.

The upcoming survey administration will also aid in helping teachers understand the various ways in which they will be evaluated and assessed in consideration of supplemental compensation under the TIA grant.

This year’s survey data will not be used for teacher’s 2021-2022 TIA ratings, but will provide teachers with baseline data to allow them to become familiar with survey categories and questions.

Starting April 26th through May 7, each DeSoto ISD student in grades three through 12 will take two surveys--one for two different teachers selected at random. The surveys will be administered online during  secondary students’ English classes and during elementary students’ advisory classes. Please note, campuses are developing individual plans for when to administer the survey..Resolution of both surveys should take no more than 30 to 45 minutes.
