DeSoto High School is gearing up for its second girls flag football season, building on a historic inaugural year that saw the Lady Eagles win the district championship and qualify for the state tournament at The Star in Frisco.

Launched in March 2025, the program was part of a North Texas expansion of girls flag football backed by the Dallas Cowboys, the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation, and the NFL Foundation. In its first year, DeSoto soared by going undefeated in district play and earning a district title before advancing to compete at the state level.

Head Coach Briana Stanley returns to lead the Lady Eagles into their sophomore season. Under her guidance, the team is focused on building a fun, competitive atmosphere while emphasizing teamwork, leadership, and athleticism.

“Last year was an eye-opener for the majority of girls at this school,” said Stanley. “So just showing how hard we worked last year, we’re hoping it will bring in more girls.”

With increased interest and momentum, expectations are high as DeSoto looks to build on last year’s success and make a deeper run at the state tournament.

“We have to stay humble and keep pushing the girls to do their best and finish stronger than we did last year said Stanley.”

To help stay in shape and prepare for the season which will begin in March 2026, Stanley is conditioning her team as well as participating in 5-on-5 games.

DeSoto ISD invites families, alumni, and community members to support the Lady Eagles as they defend their district title and continue establishing themselves as one of the top programs in the region.
