DeSoto ISD Recognized for College Readiness and Enrollment Gains at 2025 Economic Mobility Awards

DeSoto Independent School District was recently honored for its leadership in advancing postsecondary outcomes, earning recognition for improvements in both college readiness and enrollment at the 2025 Dallas County Promise Economic Mobility Awards.
The event, hosted by Dallas College and The Commit Partnership at Dallas College’s Brookhaven Campus, celebrated school districts, high schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations making measurable progress in helping students prepare for and succeed in college.
DeSoto ISD received awards in two key categories: College Readiness Achievement or Improvement and College Enrollment Achievement or Improvement. DeSoto High School was also named among the large comprehensive high schools contributing to these gains, underscoring the district’s continued commitment to expanding higher education access and long-term student success.
“These awards are a reflection of what’s possible when data, dedication and deep collaboration come together,” said Todd Williams, chairman and CEO of The Commit Partnership. “Economic mobility is not a solo effort—it’s a shared responsibility.”
The awards recognize progress across four critical milestones that support long-term economic mobility: college readiness, college enrollment, college persistence, and degree completion. Organizers emphasized that improving outcomes in these areas require meaningful cooperation among school systems, colleges and community partners.
“We’re building seamless pathways that help more students succeed in college and launch strong careers right here in North Texas,” said Dr. Justin Lonon, chancellor of Dallas College. “Creating lasting economic mobility doesn’t happen in isolation—it takes all of us working together.”
DeSoto ISD Superintendent Dr. Usamah Rodgers said the recognition reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to building opportunity and purpose for all students.
“This recognition is a testament to the work happening every day in our classrooms and counseling offices,” Rodgers said. “We are intentional about creating systems that prepare students not just to graduate—but to thrive in life beyond high school. We are constructing futures with purpose, equity and excellence at the core.”
The Economic Mobility Awards highlight the power of cross-sector collaboration in ensuring that students across Dallas County and North Texas have a clear path to college and career. DeSoto ISD’s success in both readiness and enrollment categories affirms its role as a regional leader in supporting long-term student outcomes.
DeSoto High School’s contribution to these achievements reflects the district’s broader vision to empower students academically, socially and professionally through targeted programming, advising and support.
