DeSoto High School is now accepting applications for its Early College High School (ECHS) and Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) programs, offering rising 9th graders access to college credit, workforce certifications, and career-ready experiences at no cost to families.

DeSoto High School Early College High School & P-TECH Academy (Grades 9–12)

In partnership with Dallas College, both programs allow students to earn up to 60 hours of college credit and potentially graduate with an associate degree.

“Students in our programs gain a significant head start on their futures,” said Barbara Boakye, Director of Early College and P-TECH. “These pathways are the right fit for scholars who are ambitious, driven, and ready to challenge themselves academically.”

Program pathways include:

Early College High School (ECHS)

  • Earn an associate degree at no cost


  • Take college courses beginning in 9th grade


  • Receive individualized academic support and advising


P-TECH Academy

  • Earn an associate degree and an industry-based certification


  • Industry pathways:


    1. Information Technology


    2. Business


  • Participate in work-based learning, internships, and mentorships


“These programs open doors that many students don’t usually access until years after high school,” said Advanced Academics Director Robin Johnson-Ford. “Students who complete ECHS or P-TECH are academically strong, focused, and future-ready.”

“ECHS and P-TECH give students real advantages—credentials, college credit, and workforce experience—that set them apart,” added Dr. Anita Perry, Executive Director of CCMR and Counseling Services. “These programs truly exemplify the right fit for motivated scholars.”

Aligned with DeSoto ISD’s Right Fit campaign, these high school pathways give scholars opportunities to explore advanced academic and career options tailored to their goals.
