DeSoto Independent School District proudly celebrates six outstanding seniors from DeSoto High School who have been named recipients of the prestigious Texas Christian University Community Scholars Award.
Each scholarship is valued at approximately $260,000 and provides comprehensive support including tuition, room and board, books, and a 17-week study abroad experience through one of TCU’s global academic programs. Established in 2000 by TCU’s Chancellor’s Council on Diversity, the Community Scholars program was created to expand access and opportunity for high-achieving students from historically underrepresented communities.
This year’s honorees join a highly selective cohort drawn from 13 partner high schools across the region. With a four-year graduation success rate exceeding 90 percent, the program continues to develop scholars into future leaders in business, community service, and advanced academic fields.
DeSoto High School remains the only campus in the Best Southwest region selected to participate in this distinguished program. To date, DeSoto ISD has produced more than 70 TCU Community Scholars and proudly maintains a 100 percent completion and graduation rate among its participants.
