DeSoto Independent School District (DISD) proudly joins schools nationwide in recognizing National Special Education Day on December 2, a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of students with disabilities, celebrating the dedication of educators, and raising awareness about the importance of inclusive education.

“At DeSoto ISD, we are committed to ensuring every scholar has access to an education that meets their unique needs,” said Stephanie Fuller, Executive Director of Special Populations. “National Special Education Day is an opportunity to celebrate the progress, resilience, and accomplishments of our students while highlighting the incredible work of our teachers, specialists, and support staff who make this possible every day.”

DeSoto ISD provides a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to support students with diverse learning needs. These programs are rooted in evidence-based practices and tailored to help each student reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

“Every child deserves the chance to succeed and feel valued,” said Stephanie McCloud, Chief Academic Officer of DeSoto ISD. “Through our Special Education programs, we focus on personalized learning and fostering an environment where all students can thrive. Today, we recognize the dedication of our educators and celebrate the achievements of our scholars.”

National Special Education Day also serves as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to inclusive education and equity for all learners. DeSoto ISD continues to expand resources, professional development, and community partnerships to ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed.

“Our district believes that celebrating diversity in learning strengthens our community as a whole,” said Dr. Usmaah Rodgers, Superintendent of DeSoto ISD. “We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and the tireless efforts of our staff who make high-quality education accessible to all. Observing National Special Education Day on December 2 reinforces our commitment to equity, inclusion, and excellence for every learner.”
