DeSoto ISD Expands College & Career Readiness Support Through Dallas County Promise

DeSoto Independent School District is excited to announce an
expanded partnership with Dallas County Promise, a community-wide
initiative designed to help students prepare for success after high school.
For several years, Dallas County Promise has provided
critical resources to DeSoto ISD seniors, including tuition assistance at
participating colleges, guidance with financial aid, and support throughout the
enrollment process. These services have helped open doors for countless
graduates, making college and career goals more attainable.
Now, in a significant expansion of this initiative, the Dallas
County Promise Path Form—previously available to 12th-grade students—will
be extended to include 9th–11th graders beginning [insert start date].
“By introducing students to college and career planning
earlier in their high school journey, we are equipping them with the tools,
guidance, and confidence they need to prepare for a successful future,” said Dr.
Anita Perry, Executive Director of College, Career and Military Readiness and
Counseling for DeSoto ISD. “This partnership strengthens our ability to
support students long before they reach their senior year.”
Through this earlier engagement, students will gain access
to tailored information and opportunities that grow alongside them. Younger
students will receive resources to explore college and career options step by
step, while seniors will continue to receive targeted support related to
financial aid, scholarships, and college enrollment.
“Expanding access to the Promise Path Form reflects our
district’s commitment to ensuring every student is college and career ready,”
said Stephanie McCloud, Chief Academic Officer for DeSoto ISD. “When
students start this process as early as ninth grade, they have more time to
explore their interests, set goals, and pursue a future that aligns with their
aspirations.”
The Promise Path Form acts as the first step for students to
signal their interest in pursuing post-secondary education or training. By
completing the form early in high school, students begin a guided pathway that
supports them through graduation and beyond.
DeSoto ISD encourages families to engage in this process
alongside their students. Once a student completes the Promise Path Form, they
will receive age-appropriate communication and resources—ranging from college
and career exploration to guidance on scholarships and enrollment.
“Our collaboration with Dallas County Promise demonstrates
DeSoto ISD’s unwavering dedication to preparing students for success beyond
high school,” added Dr. Perry. “With the support of families and the
community, we can ensure that every student has the confidence and resources to
pursue their chosen path.”
