DeSoto Independent School District is preparing for the upcoming Spring Break week, and in order to reduce any potential distractions and concerns and to facilitate a smooth release and transition to the break, no backpacks will be allowed on secondary campuses starting Monday, May 12, 2025 through the close of the acadmic year ending with the early release day on May 23, 2025.

This measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution.

Additionally, to further support a smooth transition to Summer Break and the release of students at all secondary campuses:

  • The DeSoto ISD security staff will be in place and visible throughout the day.

  • District-level staff members trained in safety and security will be assisting campuses with monitoring high-traffic and common areas in real-time through our video surveillance systems

DeSoto ISD is committed to maintaining a learning environment that is safe and productive and that supports the criminal prosecution of any individual who threatens harm to our students, staff, and campuses.

In addition to the measures mentioned above, campuses will limit traffic in hallways during the school day and parents are asked to pick up students as immediately as possible at the close of the school day.

Please remember that May 23, 2025, is an Early Release Day, and all parents, students and staff will function according to the early release times and protocols listed here and communicated at the start of the school year.

Parents are asked to contact their child's campus directly regarding any questions related to these changes.

DeSoto ISD thanks its school community in advance for its cooperation and support as the district continues to work with stakeholders to keep students and staff safe.
