DeSoto Independent School District is proud to announce the appointment of Rene McKibbin as the new head volleyball coach at DeSoto High School, bringing decades of coaching experience, a strong track record of student-athlete development and a commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
McKibbin joins the Lady Eagles program after a successful tenure at West Mesquite High School, where she established a reputation for building competitive teams, fostering positive relationships with student-athletes and emphasizing academic achievement alongside athletic success.
As head coach of the DeSoto High School volleyball program, McKibbin will lead efforts to continue strengthening a tradition of excellence while preparing student-athletes to compete at a high level and represent the district with pride.
“We are excited to welcome Coach McKibbin to the DeSoto ISD family,” said DeSoto High School Principal Leon Darden. “Her experience, leadership and passion for developing young people make her an outstanding fit for our campus and community. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our student-athletes and volleyball program.”
McKibbin said she is honored to join DeSoto ISD and eager to begin building relationships with students, families and staff.

Known for her dedication to skill development, teamwork and character-building, McKibbin has spent her coaching career helping student-athletes reach their full potential while creating a culture centered on accountability, discipline and growth.
The appointment reflects DeSoto ISD’s ongoing commitment to attracting exceptional educators and coaches who support the district’s mission of preparing students for success in college, career and life.
As the Lady Eagles prepare for the upcoming season, McKibbin will begin meeting with student-athletes, staff and families while laying the foundation for the next chapter of DeSoto High School volleyball.
