Minnesota Student Travels to DeSoto to Meet Eagle Football Standout and USC Commit Boobie Feaster

DeSoto Independent School District shares a powerful and emotional moment
that took place this week when Karon Sparks, a twelve-year-old
football player from Minnesota and the self-proclaimed biggest fan of DeSoto
High School standout and USC commit Ethan Boobie Feaster,
traveled more than 800 miles to meet his hero.
Karon made the trip with his grandmother and younger brother. His mother
is currently incarcerated, making the visit especially meaningful for the
family. Sparks and Feaster met for the first time at DeSoto High School
on the football field, where the young visitor was greeted with warmth,
encouragement and time shared with the athlete he admires most.

The exchange was described as sobering and inspirational as Sparks
expressed how much the moment meant to him. Sparks is also in Texas to compete
in a football tournament with his team, the Inner City Ducks.
During their meeting, Sparks shared that he plans to attend DeSoto’s
upcoming playoff game against the Southlake Carroll Dragons. In a gesture of
support, DeSoto Eagles head football coach Claude Mathis told Sparks that if
the Inner City Ducks win their tournament game on Saturday, he will attend
Sparks’ game as well.
This moment reflects the positive influence student-athletes can have
beyond the field, offering hope, connection and inspiration to younger athletes
who look up to them.
DeSoto ISD recognizes and celebrates this special meeting as an example
of the character, compassion and leadership demonstrated by Eagle scholars.
