Bilingual Parent Night

The DeSoto Independent School District is working to expand and increase services to bilingual and ESL students with the goal of ensuring an agile and responsive approach to educating students and serving families.

The DeSoto ISD Bilingual and LOTE Department will host an informational meeting for parents of Bilingual and ESL students from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the DeSoto ISD Belt Line Conference Center located at the rear entry of the Instructional Support Center at 200 E. Belt Line Road in DeSoto.

The meeting, geared towards families at Cockrell Hill and Frank D. Moates elementary schools will provide information regarding the difference in bilingual instruction and ESL instruction and discuss ideas for parent involvement and engagement.

In addition to providing a programmatic overview, the event will provide opportunities to collaboratively plan  future family engagement events and invite our parents to be more involved in their child's school and learning process. Families will also have the opportunity to meet each campus’ Parent Liaison who will be  instrumental in involving parents and this is the first in-person event to move in that direction.

Personnel will be available to translate the meeting in real-time for families who need such assistance. Please note face masks are required when attending events and activities in DeSoto ISD.
