DeSoto High School presented with $1,500 Grant at Walmart's grand reopeningDeSoto’s very own Walmart Super Center located at 951 West Belt Line Road held a grand reopening on the morning of Friday, November 3. A store redesign and location upgrades include new registers and a new health clinic which is set to open in early 2024.

To kick off the event, the DeSoto High School cheer and marching band performed outdoors to a large, cheering crowd. Vendors in the parking lot included Cowboys On Tour, Monster Energy, Bimbo, and Boss’s on the Road.

Helping to commemorate the rededication, Walmart presented a $1,500 grant to the DeSoto High School. On hand to accept the grant was DeSoto Independent School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers.

Walmart’s reopening event included additional donations to the community. Among the recipients were the Mission of Community Baptist Church, Chocolate Mint, and the DeSoto Police Department. Each received grants of $1,000.

To close out the grand reopening, the DeSoto High School cheer and marching band performed routines and played music inside Walmart’s main entrance, down to the electronics department and returned back to the opposite end of the store.

DeSoto ISD would like to thank the Walmart corporation, its dedicated employee base, and the numerous business partners who continue to make a difference, not only in the school district but in the city of DeSoto.
