In order to reduce any potential distractions and concerns and to facilitate a smooth early release and closure to the academic school year, no backpacks will be allowed on campuses.

This measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution

In order to support a smooth transition to Summer Break and the early release of all campuses:

  • The DeSoto ISD security staff will be in place and visible throughout the day through the remainder of the school year.
  • District-level staff members trained in safety and security will be assisting campuses with monitoring high-traffic and common areas in real time through our video surveillance systems
  • Central and support staff will be deployed to district campuses to offer additional support and supervision of students.

DeSoto ISD is committed to maintaining a learning environment that is safe and productive and that supports the criminal prosecution of any individual who threatens harm to our students, staff, and campuses.

In addition to the above-mentioned measures, campuses will limit traffic in hallways during the school day and parents are asked to pick up students as immediately as possible at the close of the school day.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact your child’s campus directly.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we continue to work together to keep our students and staff safe.
