What a season it has been for the DeSoto Eagle football program.

 

This Saturday, the Eagles will look to claim their second state title in program history at AT&T Stadium as they prepare to go up against Austin Vandegrift.

 

Adding to the excitement of this season, the Eagles have accumulated several accomplishments en route to this weekend’s matchup which include:

 

District Athletic Director and Eagles Football Head Coach Claude Mathis, who is in his second stint as head coach for the Eagles, tallied his 150th career win during this season’s playoff run.

 

Wide receiver Jontay Cook III, a force to be reckoned with on and off the field, is a five-star product and Texas Longhorn bound senior and a finalist for the Dave Campbell Texas Football Player of the Year Award, in addition to earning Academic All-State honors.

 

Twenty-four other Eagles garnered Texas Academic All-State Team recognition:
