Congratulations to two Curtistene S. McCowan Middle School band students for successfully auditioning and making the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 20 Middle School All-Region Band. In each of the TMEA Areas, a designated number of the top students are selected for All-Region.  At each level of competition, students perform for a panel of 3 judges in a blind audition where judges are screened from sight and do not know which students are performing.

On Saturday, November 11th band students from Curtistene S. McCowan Middle School traveled to Duncanville High School and auditioned for only a handful of spots in elite ensembles. These students competed against nearly 1000 other 7th and 8th grade students from 9 different school districts in our region including Richardson ISD, Irving ISD, Waxahachie ISD, and Dallas ISD. Students were required to play two major scales, their full chromatic scale, and two prepared etudes. Percussion students played three etudes on snare, mallet, and timpani.

Congratulations to All-Region students: Ambriece Allen 8th grade, Percussion / Concert Band, and Adrian Moreno 8th grade, French Horn/ Concert Winds.

These students will join the other Honor Band members from around the region and participate in the TMEA All-Region Honor Band clinic and concert on December 1st and 2nd at Duncanville High School in Duncanville ISD.

Many thanks to Mrs. Twynnette Anderson (Head Director), Mr. Matthew Bailey (Asst. Director), the team of volunteer DeSoto High School band students, and volunteer private lesson instructor Uchenna Nwaizu (teacher at DHS) for supporting these students along the way.
