Prekindergarten education is a great foundation for lifelong learning and successful academic foundations for students. The case for early childhood education is clear. Data shows scholars exposed to early childhood education programs tend to exercise stronger critical and creative thinking skills, outperform their peers academically, and tend to advance further in their careers.
At DeSoto ISD’s Amber Terrace Early Childhood Learning Center, families experience a campus solely dedicated to shaping and supporting young learners and their families.
To support the completion of early childhood enrollment in DeSoto ISD, families are asked to submit the following materials:
-
Original copy of the scholar’s birth certificate (see below)
-
Scholar’s immunization records
-
Scholar’s Social Security card
-
Proof of residency (current water, gas, or electricity bill) and
-
Parent/guardian driver’s license
Registration is for eligible students as defined by the Texas Legislature. A child is eligible for public Pre-K if the child is age 3 or 4 on or before Sept. 1.
Texas.gov reminds parents that they can go directly to Texas.gov and order a certified birth certificate for $22, the same price as a walk-in or mail order. This online service, offered in English and Spanish, provides parents with a straightforward, secure option for ordering their child’s birth certificate. The orders are fulfilled by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
