Following the DeSoto Independent School District’s announcement regarding the opening of the only Talented and Gifted Academy in the Best Southwest communities of Cedar Hill, Duncanville, DeSoto and Lancaster, the greater Dallas/ Fort Worth community is invited to take a fun and immersive look at the newest academic offering in the area.
Starting at 5:30 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2024, current and prospective families are invited to attend the Ruby Young Talented and Gifted Academy Block Party which include informational sessions regarding the application and assessment process; campus learning experiences and campus tours.
For families interested in a Gifted and Talented educational program for academically gifted students, the campus will drive personal and intellectual development by:
- guiding and developing scholars’ internal and external emotional intelligence;
- allowing scholars to explore their interests and the relationships of those interests to society;
- supporting scholars’ development of learning outputs that reflect those explorations;
- creating platforms for scholars’ presentations of learning and discovery designed to challenge conventions;
- and deepening scholars’ sense of belongingness and community to support pride in academic achievement in a more rigorous environment.
